Headlining Abu Dhabi Classics 2020 is one of the greatest female vocalists in the Arab World, as Magida El Roumi performs with her 70 member-orchestra. Known for her beautiful, crystal-clear voice and extraordinary vocal range, the Lebanese singer will bring Abu Dhabi Classics to a spectacular finale.
Discovered at the age of sixteen, El Roumi released her first single Am Behlamak ('I’m Dreaming Of You, Lebanon') a year later. Since then, over the past 40 years she has produced dozens of hit records in a variety of styles, from classical Arabic to modern Arab pop. A graduate in Arabic literature, El Roumi sings romantic and patriotic poetry written by prestigious Arab poets.
The upcoming season will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven with a performance of the German composer’s most celebrated work, the 9th Symphony, by the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra will also perform a chamber music programme featuring Tchaikovsky and Brahms and other concerts on the schedule include Bach Concertos for 2, 3 and 4 Pianos, a solo piano performance by Lise de la Salle and a concert featuring young Egyptian singer Sanaa Nabil.
Abu Dhabi Classics is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi and produced by Flash Entertainment, the region’s premier live events company.
