Al Burda Endowment 2019
The UAE Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development is delighted to debut the works of the inaugural Al Burda Endowment at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2019 in Manarat Al Saadiyat. The Al Burda Endowment seeks to expand the reach of Islamic culture by recognizing creative pioneers who embrace experimentation in their approach to Islamic art and culture. The Endowment will support 10 artists to create a variety of artworks that reinterpret elements of Islamic culture. The artists are: Emirati artists Aljoud Lootah, Ebtisam Abdulaziz, Khalid Al Banna and Ammar Al Attar, alongside those by Saudis Dana Awartani and Nasser Al Salem, as well as, Aisha Khalid (Pakistan), Zoulikha Bouabdella (Algeria), Fatima Uzdenova (Russia) and Stanley Siu (Hong Kong).
Al Burda is a platform run by the UAE Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development since 2004, dedicated to the celebration of Islamic arts and culture. The platform engages with communities through its Award, Endowment, Festival and public programming segments.
** The endowment exhibition will launch during Abu Dhabi Art but will also continue to be hosted by Manarat Al Saadiyat until March 1
